Signage and Wayfinding

The City of Calgary developed four new recreation facilities and BOND was engaged to design the signage and wayfinding program for three of these, including the Shane Homes YMCA at Rocky Ridge Recreation Facility, which was completed in 2018.

The facility is a ‘building within a park’. It is located on a 26.1 hectare natural site at the northwest edge of the Calgary City limits. The curving roof structure and organic shape of the building was the inspiration for the signage curved features. Its clean typographic and pictographic aesthetic is the link that is consistent throughout all the recreational facilities.
